Fulfilling Your Deepest Function
Your deepest function here (according to the Taoists) is to act as a channel, a conduit between the subatomic (spiritual) realm and the manifest (everyday) plane, to take the brackets off life and start living it, loving it and riding it for all it’s worth from moment to moment, because you now know you’re a divine being in human form and actually have nothing to lose and everything to gain by letting go of your egocentric agendas with enough frequency and regularity to allow the Tao to express itself purely through you.
You don’t have to do anything about the expression end of things. The Tao takes care of that. All you have to do is keep emptying yourself and letting it happen. The results in real time are a series of miracles or quantum shunts which push your life onto a new level all by itself. This benefits everyone in your world, as you have far more juice to share from within you and are thus able to serve as a beacon of inspiration.
Sit or stand comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Relax everything.
Lengthen your spine.
Drop your shoulders.
Slow your breathing down.
Draw your focal point backwards into the centre of your brain.
Gaze into the void between and behind your eyes.
Notice how all local thoughts in the forebrain have ceased.
Become aware of the void behind you as well as in front.
Sink backwards into the void behind you.
Keep sinking, falling backwards into the void.
Far away in front of you, roughly where your everyday world is, see a stream of bright light descending from high above and washing right through all the aspects of your everyday world. At the same time, see a stream of light ascending from your everyday world into the mysterious heights above.
Slowly settle back into the everyday state, all parts of you present and correct and carry on as you were.
The downward flow represents the Tao spiritualizing and refining your material conditions, while the upward flow represents all aspects of your material life being offered back to the Tao for purification.
And that’s just one way to empower yourself as a viable channel for the Tao and so trigger a veritable stream of miracles in your life and the lives of those around you.
May it serve you so well, you hardy recognize your life by the time you sleep tonight.
