The essence of wisdom

If things appear to be going against you, rather than bemoan your fate, rejoice and give thanks, for though counter intuitive, by the inevitable cycling of yin and yang (constriction and expansion), by the time the constriction phase reaches its most uncomfortable point, the expansion phase has already begun.

Hence, when things go against you, though irksome, inconvenient and awkward, it’s actually prerequisite for things turning to your advantage again.

Conversely if things are going well for you, also embrace and give thanks for it, but resist the urge to grasp at it as something permanent, for at the zenith of good fortune the seed of decline is inevitably already sprouting.

The key to peace lies in standing in the center watching the cycle, loving it, whichever phase is currently presenting.
